포스코인터내셔널과 한국가스공사는 미얀마 가스전 개발사업에 각기 51%, 8.5%씩 지분을 갖고 미얀마 국영기업인 석유가스공사(MOGE), 인도 국영가스석유회사와 컨소시엄을 구성해 2013년말부터 천연가스를 생산, 판매하고 있다. 그러나 미얀마 군부가 쿠데타를 일으킨 후 대학살의 만행을 저지르고 있는 가운데서도 이 사업은 변함없이 지속되고 있어 현지에서는 주민들의 원성이 높다.

미얀마의 민주주의를 요구하는 인권단체 앰네스티(Amnesty)와 저스티스 포 미얀마(Justice For Myanmar)는 포스코인터의 미얀마 가스전이 군부의 자금줄 역할을 한다고 주장하고 있다. 이들은 슈에 가스전 사업에 참여한 미얀마국영석유공사(모지·MOGE)의 역할을 주목한다. 군부독재 시절 설립된 모지는 국제인권단체들로부터 군부의 비자금 세탁 창구로 주목받는 기구다.
